HOSPICE HOMES
Training on January 15th and 22
NCDC and Phi Delta Epsilon (PhiDE, a medical fraternity) have established a new volunteering outlet. Essentially, students will be able to volunteer in the homes of Hospice patients. The experience is supposed to be pretty powerful because you're quite literally befriending and volunteering bedside with a terminally ill patient. NCDC take care of transportation and the commitment wouldn't be too demanding (once a month, biweekly, or possibly once a week--it really depends on who you are working with). The volunteer coordinator (Lisa Dye) is hosting trainings on campus, on -- both sessions are mandatory, and the training will last for most of the day. If you are interested, please email me!/

Literature for All of Us
Saturday, February 4
4 PM training, 7-11 PM event
The Standard Club in Chicago

Literature for All of Us serves over 500 at-risk young people aged 12-21 through weekly book group discussions and poetry writing facilitated by professional leaders. We are holding our annual Gala fundraising, WORDplay, a night of Chance which will be a night of Gambling, Word games and great prizes including poker and bananagram tournaments. We are looking for about 35-40 volunteers. We need them at 4pm the night of the event for training, we will provide dinner before the gaming starts and they will be working from approximately 7-11pm. It might be a great opportunity for some networking for the students, maybe name tags with their name and major/area of study interest will spark conversations throughout the evening.Check it out or email us.
